ABOUT APPLES & ANCHORS

SHARING THE BEST SEATS ON THE LAKE FOR SUNSET

THE STORY BEHIND APPLES & ANCHORS CHARTERS

Apples & Anchors Charters was born from a lifelong connection to the water and a shared belief that some of the best Northern Michigan memories happen aboard a boat.

Owned and operated by Captain Jason Apple and First Mate Christie Apple, Apples & Anchors was created to offer a private charter experience that feels welcoming, comfortable, and unforgettable. Not overly formal or flashy. Just good people, beautiful water, attentive service, and the kind of moments that make summer in Michigan special.

For Christie, life on the water started early growing up along Saginaw Bay, where boating, fishing, and long summer days outside were simply part of life. Her father was a master diver, dive instructor, and water rescue specialist, and weekends were often spent fishing the bay with her grandfather, brother, and cousins or camping and pleasure boating throughout Michigan’s state parks. Those experiences built a deep appreciation for hospitality, togetherness, and the kind of memories only made outdoors and on the water.

Christie brings the hospitality side of the experience to life. Her ability to make guests feel immediately comfortable and at home is at the center of every charter. Whether the goal is a laid-back sandbar afternoon, a romantic sunset cruise, or a lively outing with friends, Christie naturally curates the atmosphere to match the energy of the group while making sure guests feel relaxed, welcomed, and cared for from the moment they step aboard.

Guests cruise aboard a 2017 Rinker 320 Express Cruiser, a spacious 32-foot vessel with an 11’6″ beam, large swim deck, comfortable lounge seating, and a full onboard head for convenience. The atmosphere aboard is elevated without feeling overdone. Think sunset cruises, sandbar afternoons, slow cruising through the Inland Waterway, and enjoying Northern Michigan from a perspective most people never get to experience.

Jason’s connection to boating began much the same way. Raised in a family of avid fishermen, his passion for the water started young and grew through years spent fishing Lake Michigan and navigating open water conditions. Operating and navigating a vessel has always come naturally to him, combining confidence, calmness, and deep respect for the water. In the winter of 2024, Jason completed his USCG Captain coursework and examinations, officially turning a lifelong passion into the foundation of Apples & Anchors.

Guests quickly notice Jason’s calm, safety-first leadership style. He carries the protective “captain and dad” presence that instantly puts people at ease, while also being approachable, easygoing, and genuinely interested in getting to know the people aboard.
